About: This Fanlisting

This fanlisting is for Supernatural's Joanna Beth Harvelle, aka 'Jo,' played by Alona Tal. Jo is a headstrong twenty-one year old woman caught between her mother's wishes and her own wants; while Jo wants to hunt the supernatural and save lives, her mother would much rather her daughter back at university, attending classes and being safe. Jo feels bound to keeping her father's memory alive though, of taking her place in the family business, and she will go to any lengths to hunt.

There's a lot of fandom hate for Jo, and some fans are disgruntled by her appearance, but I love her. I wasn't sure I would at first since she was introduced solely as a lover interest for one of the Winchester boys, but Kripke et al has really come through on providing her with a solid, interesting back story, and I'm excited and can't wait to see more of her.

I love her because she's fiercely independent, smart, strong and confident, and I have a thing for smart 'n' sassy women. She's also flawed, an inexperienced hunter and a really bad flirt, and I love those faults just as much as I love the more positive aspects of her personality. She's real, in all its awesomeness and ugliness, and that's just perfect for me.

About: The Title

The title of this fanlisting is Line of Best Fit, shamelessly stolen from a Death Cab For Cutie song of the same name. There were plenty of other canidate names for this site, but this one embodied what hunting is to Jo -- it's the best fit for who she is, past, present and future. Jo doesn't fit in at university -- girls with knife collections and an in depth knowledge of all things that go bump in the night tend not to -- and she never will. Raised amongst hunters with a hunter for a father and hunters for friends, Jo knows which world she belongs in, where she fits, and I wanted a title that reflected that aspect of her character since it plays so heavily into everything she does on screen.
